SNOW DAYS As you know, we have had two snow days so far this year (December 12th and January 8th). These two days will be made up on June 2nd and June 3rd. In the event of further snow days, school will be extended to June 4th and June 5th with the IS Day moved to the day following the last instructional day. The parameters of this year’s school calendar allow us to make-up only 4 snow days. Therefore, the very last possible day for school to be in session for students this year will be Friday, June 5th. The exact date will be determined by the number of snow days we have.
Possible Semester Change The second school term/semester is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 20th. High school finals are scheduled for Thursday, January 15th and Friday, January 16th. Therefore, if there is a snow day on either Thursday, January 15th or Friday, January 16th, the semester/term change will be delayed by one day to Wednesday, January 21st in order to complete finals. Should both January 15th and 16th be snow days, the semester/term change would be delayed by two days to Thursday, January 22nd. Delays on either day will NOT alter the semester/term change. If the semester/term change is delayed, all grade reporting/report card dates will be delayed accordingly. ************************************** ************************************** If you have a TI 84 Plus , TI 84 Plus Silver Edition or the NEW TI Nspire, please donate your proof of purchase to the WHS Math Department. Research shows that regular school attendance is vital to academic success and that student achievement improves with good attendance. Students must attend school regularly and be on time to classes in order to maximize instructional benefits. Additionally, regular school attendance and punctuality develop self-discipline and responsibility. Not only is school attendance compulsory, but it should also be encouraged and expected.
Putnam County Schools will cooperate with parents and students to try to improve their children's attendance, but parents and students must assume ultimate responsibility for regular school attendance.
