Activities

We have had several wonderful visitors and activities going on already this year. Author Cheryl Ware, Prosecuting Attorney Mark Sorsaia, Louise the Lightning Bug, WV Secretary of State Betty Ireland are just a few. The Power Team visited to teach us how our character affects others. They helped us learn how to be "dream makers" and  not "dream breakers."

Our fifth graders have been busy learning the correct way to fold a flag and raising money for the American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart.

The Hurricane Volunteer Fire Dept. brought a fire truck and their new smoke house during Fire Prevention Week. The students were given the chance to practice escaping the smoke filled trailor by climbing out the window!

HTE students and staff held a school-wide mock election and the results were: John McCain  229**              Barack Obama 128       

We had members of the Winfield American Legion 187 do a presenation for Veteran's Day. We even held a special food and supplies drive for the Huntington Veterans home.
