School Celebrations: There will be three holiday celebrations during the school year: Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day. Teachers, in cooperation with the Homeroom Parent Chairperson, will determine the activities for the class. Look for more informaitn in the weekly newsletter or from your PTB Homeroom mother representatives. Field Trips: Field Trips and excursions of educatinal value are arranged by individual teachers. Students must have permission slips signed by his/her parent or legal guardian before being allowed to participate. Phone calls will not be accepted. School Dances: School Dances are planned at various times during the school year by the PTB. Only Conner Street Elementary students are invited to attend. As with all activities, parents are encouraged to assist. Students are to be met at the door by parent when the dance is over. Book Fair: The school sponsors a book fair to allow students to view a variety of books on many different subjects. Students, staff and parents will have the opportunity to purchase books from the fair. With each purchase, the school accumulates points to receive free books for each classroom. Pictures: School pictures are taken twice a year. Proceeds are used to purchase needed school supplies and equipment. Student Council: Early in the school year, each third, fourth, and fifth grade class will select two representatives and one alternate to serve on the Student Council. These students, along with the Faculty Advisor will meet once a month to assist in decisions concerning school activities and goals. Fundraisers: No more that four major fundraisers will be held each year. Two will be conducted by the school for designated school needs. The others will be conducted by the PTB for an agreed upon need of the students. Students have the option to participate to help raise money for major school improvement projects.
