Winfield High School is located on the banks of the Kanawha River in Winfield, West Virginia. The community is a rural town, located halfway between Huntington and Charleston.  Winfield High School is the newest of the four high schools in Putnam County.

Our mission:
The mission of Winfield High School is to ensure that every student masters the curriculum and achieves academic success.  We are committed to developing productive citizens who make sound decisions and accept responsibility for their actions in a diverse and changing world.

WHS News and Announcements

Generals Fair Well At State Math Field Day

Four WHS Students, Corey Childers, Eric Smithberger, John Honaker, and Luke Miller all qualified for the state math field day by having strong finishes in the regional competition.  On April 26th, they made the long trip to Shepherdstown to compete in the states.  Eric Smithberger placed 23rd and Corey Childers placed 26th overall in the 10-12 division.  Luke Miller was 15th overall in the 9th grade competition.  Congratulations to all on a great year.  WHS Math Department would like to thank the parents of these students for making arrangements and providing transportation to allow them to compete in this competition.

Ashley Headed To Wesleyan

Caleb Ashley has chosen to extend his basketball career at West Virginia Wesleyan next fall.  He signed his letter of intent on May 6th.  Ashley has excelled at both Baseball and Basketball the past few years at WHS.   Good Luck!

Markham Adds to List of Accomplishments

Zackary Markham has added another accomplishment to his portfolio by being chosen to represent Winfield High School as one of the kickers in the 2008 North-South football game. The game is scheduled for June 21st  at Laidley Field in Charleston.  During the week of June 14-21, Zack will be attending the North-South football camp.

Zackary has also received the West Virginia Sportswriters Association Award and we will be traveling to Lakeview Resort in Morgantown, WV on Sunday May 3, 2008 to attend a dinner and accept his award.
