Accelerated Reader

Our goal is to have each student read a minimum of two books and take two tests in the Accelerated Reader program.  Many students have already met this goal. Please encourage your child to participate in this program.

The Book It!  Incentive program 

Book It! motivates children to read by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition and pizza.  You can also count the time spent reading at home on your 1 Million Minutes sheet.

Read a Million Minutes

We would like for the staff and students to record their individual reading times daily to help the school to read their goal of reading One Million Minutes this school year.  Reading can take place either during or outside of the school day.  If the students can't read yet, a parent may read to the child and record the time.  Complete the form sent home weekly.  We will post progress for school and community to see.  This reading time can also be used to fulfill other teacher assignments and the Pizza Hut Book It Program

Box Tops for Education

Remember to save your Box Tops for Education coupons from products that you purchase. Put the coupons in a baggie with your child’s name on it.  The class with the most coupons for each contest wins a prize.

February 21, 2007 for third, fourth and fifth graders and

February 22, 2007 for kindergarten, first and second graders.

Good News Club

The first meeting will be Thursday October 11 from 3:00-4:30.  Thanks to Rev. Butcher and the parishioners at the Poca Baptist Church for volunteering to start the Good News Club here at PES.  Contact your child's teacher for details.  Students must have permission slips to attend.
