Conner Street Elementary’s Universal Preschool program is a collaborative program with Head Start. The Creative Curriculum is child-centered and involves a hands-on approach to learning. Children are actively engaged in the learning environment with interactive materials and many opportunities to make choices. Learning is facilitated by instructors through developmentally appropriate play activities during which children interact with peers and explore their interests while developing new concepts. The Universal Preschool program addresses each area of early child development: fine & gross motor, personal independence & daily living, social & emotional, as well as language & communication. And through exploration and guided learning, children begin to develop creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving skills in addition to the foundations for academic learning. Preschool students begin to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments and to develop a love for learning!
