Reading is so important that we are working together with our public libraries, Read Aloud and other literacy organizations to help our young people read more and read well. The West Virginia Department of Education is calling their effort Read WV and that’s what we want everyone to do – READ. Read to your children, have your older children read to you, read aloud, read aloud, read as a school – READ.
WVDE launched a resource page on their website that will help you in this endeavor. You can access it at http://wvde.state.wv.us/readwv. The website supports the initiative and includes information and links that can be used to help children not only learn to read better but to develop a love of reading that will serve them well today and in the future. The project encourages parents, teachers, community leaders and others to promote reading by example and serve as reading role models to their children.
