Hurricane Middle School seventh grader Avery Ferguson has been selected as a State
Representative for FUEL UP TO PLAY 60. She and Program Advisor Andrea
Cunningham will attend the Student Ambassador Summit in Washington, D.C., this
summer.
Fuel Up to
Play 60 is a program designed to support wellness and combat obesity by getting
students to be active and eat healthy foods. It is co-sponsored by the National
Dairy Association and the National Football League.
Studies
show that students who are physically fit are more apt to succeed academically.
In addition, participating in a school-wide program increases the likelihood
that students will make good choices as they take fun challenges to compete for
prizes.
For their
successful initiatives to involve the community, engage the students, and
promote healthy habits, Mrs. Cunningham and her students are proud to have been
named a Touchdown School for the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.
Congratulations
to Hurricane Middle Student Ambassador Avery Ferguson, Program Advisor Andrea
Cunningham, and all of the students at Hurricane Middle School who are making
healthy living a priority.
